What "Last-Mile Delivery" Means?

2 min. readlast update: 04.28.2025

"Last-Mile Delivery" means your parcel is now with a Runner (courier) who is responsible for delivering it to your final address.

  • It has been picked up from the warehouse, Sender, or Hubbed location.

  • It is in the final phase before it reaches you.

Good news: Your parcel is very close — it's no longer sitting in a depot!

🚦 Why Your Parcel Might Show Last-Mile Status but Not Move

There are several common and normal reasons for this:

Reason Explanation
Runner has multiple deliveries Runners often carry several parcels. Your parcel might be scheduled later along their delivery route.
Traffic or delays Heavy traffic, road closures, or weather can cause temporary pauses without updating the tracking immediately.
Delivery windows Some deliveries are scheduled to happen within a certain time range (e.g., between 2pm–6pm). The Runner may be waiting to deliver within that window.
Runner took a break or changed sequence Sometimes Runners take short breaks, refuel, or reorder their deliveries for efficiency.
GPS issues If the Runner’s GPS signal drops out temporarily, it may look like they aren't moving even if they are.

📝 What You Should Do

  • Keep monitoring the tracking page: It will update once the Runner resumes moving toward your address.

  • Check your delivery window (if provided): Some deliveries are intended to occur within specific hours, not immediately after pickup.

  • Leave delivery instructions if needed: Use the "Comments" option on the GoPeople tracking page if you want to help with directions or secure drop-off tips.

✅ Most parcels still get delivered on the same day even if there’s a period of no visible movement.

🔔 When to Take Action

You only need to act if:

  • The tracking has shown no movement at all for several hours after the expected delivery window has passed, and

  • You haven’t received the parcel and no update is posted.

In that case:

  • Contact your retailer (Sender) to report a delayed delivery.

  • They can escalate the issue through their internal process with GoPeople if needed.
