Barcode Scanning & Manual Pickup Guidelines

2 min. readlast update: 06.05.2025

To ensure accurate tracking and reduce the risk of missing items, all Runners must scan each package using the GoPeople Runner App at the time of pickup.

🔍 Why Scanning is Mandatory

Scanning the barcode on each parcel is essential because it:

  • ✅ Confirms that all items have been collected from the Sender

  • ✅ Ensures accurate tracking for both Senders and Recipients

  • ✅ Helps prevent missed or lost deliveries

  • ✅ Provides proof that a package has entered your care

Standard Pickup Process

Follow these steps for every job:

  1. Open the GoPeople Runner App

  2. Select the assigned job/run

  3. Use the in-app barcode scanner to scan each parcel

  4. Make sure all items are scanned before tapping “Pick Up”

💡 Tip: Hold your camera steady and ensure the barcode is visible and well-lit.

⚠️ What to Do If You Can’t Scan a Barcode

In rare cases, you might encounter:

  • Missing or damaged barcodes

  • Handwritten labels (e.g. florist or barley packages)

  • Barcode not recognised by the scanner

In such situations, you must follow the manual pickup steps:

📝 Manual Pickup Procedure:

  1. Double-Check All Items
Manually confirm that you’ve collected all items listed in the app.

  2. Mark Items as Picked Up
In the app, go to the job screen and tap “Pick Up” to confirm you’ve taken all packages.

  3. Do Not Leave the Store Yet
Stay at the store until you’ve:

    • Verified that all items are accounted for

    • Confirmed the pickup in the app

Important Reminders for All Runners

  • 🔄 Always scan parcels when possible — only use manual pickup if absolutely necessary

  • 🧾 Manual confirmation is still required even if scanning isn’t possible

  • 🧠 Double-check your pickup list before leaving the store to avoid missed items

📨 If You're Having Scanning Issues Frequently

Report it to GoPeople Support with the following:

  • The Job ID

  • A photo of the parcel (especially if the barcode is damaged or missing)

  • A brief description of the issue (e.g. “barcode not recognised”)

This helps us investigate and improve future delivery accuracy.

By following these scanning and pickup guidelines, you’ll help ensure a smooth delivery experience for everyone involved — and protect yourself from potential disputes.
