The Distance Levy is a fair and transparent way to compensate Runners for long-distance travel. It ensures that Runs with higher driving distances are properly rewarded, based on the Estimated Working Time (EWT) of the job.

How to calculate your additional earnings if distance is exceeded
📏 Distance Allowance Based on EWT
Each Run includes a distance allowance based on the EWT duration (or minimum Run duration, whichever is higher).
The allowance increases by 10 km per hour (or 0.1667 km per minute).
EWT Duration | Distance Allowance |
---|---|
3 hours | 55 km |
3 hours 30 minutes | 60 km |
4 hours | 65 km |
4 hours 30 minutes | 70 km |
5 hours | 75 km |
5 hours 30 minutes | 80 km |
6 hours | 85 km |
6 hours 30 minutes | 90 km |
7 hours | 95 km |
7 hours 30 minutes | 100 km |
8 hours | 105 km |
8 hours 30 minutes | 110 km |
9 hours | 115 km |
9 hours 30 minutes | 120 km |
10 hours | 125 km |
10 hours 30 minutes | 130 km |
If the estimated driving distance for your Run is less than or equal to the distance allowance, no distance levy applies.
💰 Distance Levy Rates (Exceeding the Allowance)
If the Run's estimated distance exceeds the allowance, the extra distance is paid at the following rates:
Exceeded Distance Range | Rate (inc. GST) |
---|---|
First 25 km (0–25 km) | $0.65 per km |
Next 25 km (25–50 km) | $0.75 per km |
Any km beyond 50 km | $0.84 per km |
📘 Examples
Example 1
-
Run EWT: 3 hours 25 minutes
-
Estimated Distance: 72 km
-
Distance Allowance:
55 km + (25 mins × 0.1667 km/min) = 59.17 km -
Exceeded Distance:
72 km – 59.17 km = 12.83 km -
Distance Levy:
12.83 km × $0.65 = $8.34 (inc. GST)
Example 2
-
Run EWT: 3 hours 45 minutes
-
Estimated Distance: 98 km
-
Distance Allowance:
55 km + (45 mins × 0.1667 km/min) = 62.50 km -
Exceeded Distance:
98 km – 62.50 km = 35.5 km -
Distance Levy:
-
First 25 km × $0.65 = $16.25
-
Remaining 10.5 km × $0.75 = $7.88
-
Total = $24.13 (inc. GST)
-
✅ Summary
-
Distance levies are automatically calculated based on the job's EWT and estimated distance
-
You’ll be paid more when you travel further than the standard allowance
-
You don’t need to manually apply for the levy — it’s built into the Run system
