What is Public Liability Insurance (PLI)?
Public Liability Insurance is essential protection for you and your business. It covers legal costs and compensation if a third party—such as a customer, supplier, or member of the public—is injured or has their property damaged due to your work activities. As a small business operator, you have a legal duty to take reasonable care for others' safety and property.

As a courier, you're regularly on the move, handling packages and interacting with customer premises. Accidents can happen—whether it's scratching a customer’s door or causing an injury during a delivery. PLI ensures you're covered if something goes wrong and someone holds you responsible.
✅ What Does It Cover?

Injury to third parties (like a customer or passerby)

Damage to property during the course of your delivery work

Emotional distress or shock caused to others

Costs for investigating, defending, and settling claims

Court-awarded compensation (if you're found liable)
💰 How is the PLI Charged?

The PLI is charged hourly, with an hourly rate of $0.30 + GST.

The minimum charge is $0.30 + GST

For Bundle Runs, the fee is based on the Estimated Working Time (EWT) of the run

Example: If a run has an EWT of 3.5 hours, the total cost will be:
3.5 × $0.30 + GST = $1.05 + GST

This amount is automatically deducted from your run payment.
When you are paid for the run, the GoPeople PLI fee will already have been subtracted, and the deducted amount will be shown in the “Payment Report” section.
