If something goes wrong while you're on a job — like property damage or an accident — it’s important to know which insurance covers what.
This guide helps you understand the difference between Public Liability Insurance and Vehicle Insurance, so you can take the right steps if you ever need to make a claim.
🔹 Public Liability Insurance
This applies when an incident happens while you're off the vehicle, during the delivery process.
✅ When It Applies:
-
You accidentally damage a customer’s property while delivering (e.g. breaking a shelf, knocking over a wall)
-
You drop a parcel and it damages the floor or another item
-
Someone gets injured while you're delivering (e.g. slips, trips caused by you)
📦 What It Covers:
-
Damage to third-party property
-
Injuries to customers or bystanders
-
Any related legal or medical expenses
🔐 Important:
-
This does not cover anything related to your vehicle
-
If you're making a claim, you must provide a valid claim number within 2 days of notifying GoPeople
-
Having Public Liability Insurance is highly recommended, especially for regular Runners
🚗 Vehicle Insurance
This applies when an incident happens while you are driving, whether you're on the way to a delivery or at a customer's location.
✅ When It Applies:
-
You reverse into a wall or gate
-
You hit another car in a driveway or car park
-
You’re involved in a road accident during a delivery
📦 What It Covers:
-
Damage to other vehicles or property
-
Damage to your own vehicle (if you have comprehensive cover)
-
Medical costs (depends on your policy)
🔐 Important:
-
CTP (Compulsory Third Party Insurance) is legally required in Australia
-
We highly recommend you have comprehensive vehicle insurance to protect yourself and others
