Once you finish registering for GST online, here’s what happens next:
✅ 1. Confirmation from ATO
After submitting your GST registration through myGov/ATO, you’ll immediately see a confirmation screen showing that your application was successfully submitted.
You might also receive:
-
An on-screen reference number or confirmation message.
-
An email or letter from the ATO confirming your registration.
🕐 2. ABN Lookup Updates
Within 24–48 hours, your ABN record (on https://abr.business.gov.au) will update to show:
“Goods & Services Tax (GST): Registered from [your start date].”
This means your GST registration is active and public.
📱3. Update Your GST Status with GoPeople
After completing step 2 above, open the GoPeople Runner App and navigate to Account → ABN and GST. Once you save the changes, the system will automatically verify your GST registration with the ATO.
Please note that this verification process may take up to 24 hours to complete.
